Frequently Asked Questions
Can I pre-register for any class offered at UF?
No. The Communication Studies Pre-Registration Event applies only to courses offered through the Dial Center for Speech and Communication Studies. We cannot enroll students into classes offered from any other departments on campus. See the Pre-Registration page for a list of current Dial Center course offerings.
Who is eligible to pre-register for a Communication Studies class?
Pre-Registration is open to all UF students who meet the prerequisites of the courses they request. Additionally, students must have no Holds on their academic records; be sure to clear any Holds prior to submitting the pre-registration form
What platforms will be used for Dial Center Classes?
Some classes will be taught asynchronous (100% online pre-recorded) and Some classes will be taught using a face-to-face (Live).
What happens if a course/section fills up during Pre-Registration? Am I guaranteed a spot?
Classes do not typically fill up during pre-registration. However, should it happen, preference will be given to students who have declared a minor CMS. Filling out of the pre-registration form does not guarantee enrollment into a class. Seats are allocated on a first-come-first-serve basis, with priority given first to declared minors.
I already submitted my pre-registration form. How will I know if I get a seat in the classes I requested?
Check your schedule on One.UF. You should see the courses added to your schedule within a week or so after you submit the pre-registration form.
Is there a limit to the number of classes I can request during pre-registration?
No, there is no limit to the number of classes you can request.
After I submit my form, do I need to do anything else?
Yes, double check that you have no holds on your record. Then, when you register for a class here, you will be officially enrolled into that course. If (i) you have a Hold, (ii) you do not meet course prerequisites, or (iii) the class is full, you will not be registered for the class. If you are successfully enrolled, you should see the courses added to your schedule within a week or so after submitting the pre-registration form below.
